Ohio Waterfowl Association

2010 Winter Meeting
This was sent out to OWA Members via e-mail a couple days ago...wanted post it
here and invite everyone to the winter meeting.

I would like to invite everyone to our annual winter meeting.  The annual winter
OWA meeting will be held at on Saturday February 20th, 2010 at 11:00AM at the
H.R. Collins geological laboratory which is located at Alum Creek State Park
just north/northeast of Columbus, OH.  Directions to the facility can be found
at this link: http://www.dnr.state.oh.us/geosurvey/tabid/7835/Default.aspx along
with an address for inputting into your favorite navigational program.  Joining
us at the meeting will be members of the ODNR Division of Wildlife, as well as,
the Alum Creek State Park Office.

The winter meeting really sets the stage for our year.  If you have a project
interest or would like to know more about what the OWA is planning for in 2010 I
encourage you to attend if you can.  If you can’t attend you can contact your
North or South Zone Vice President at the website http://www.ohiowaterfowl.org
and provide input or ask questions.

One very important item we will be discussing at the meeting is Waterfowlers
Bootcamp 2010.  Due to the hard work and dedication of our Bootcamp 2009
Committee Members, last July Ohio saw one of the largest and most successful
waterfowling shows ever held in this part of the country.  In order to pull off
a repeat performance in 2010 we are going to need A LOT of volunteer help.  If
you are interested in assisting with the planning effort, I would encourage you
to come to the meeting or contact your north or south zone VP.  I can’t stress
enough that we cannot have too much assistance from Members with the planning of
this event between now and July, no contribution is too small, and the rewards
are well worth it!

Lastly, I have the unfortunate news to share with you that our President Rance
Gamblin has run into some family issues and professional time constraints that
will prevent him from carrying out his full term as OWA President.  In his year
with the OWA Rance has been a top notch leader, but as of late has been
splitting time between Ohio and family far away.  That coupled with a host of
new professional obligations has taken all that he had to give and it was with
great regret that he came to us with his final solution.  Rance described this
decision as “agonizing”.  He will continue to be a big supporter of the OWA and
departs us as President on very, very good terms.  If you would like to wish him
well, Rance will retain an e-mail address at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it .  We
will discuss how to move forward without Rance at the Winter Meeting, however,
it is comforting to know that due to the fact that we have a strong Officer
Corp, we do not see that Rance’s necessity !
to step away as a great hindrance to the work of the OWA.

My Best Regards, and looking forward to seeing you at the Winter Meeting!
